I am not religious person, but I went to a little unknown japanese shrine.

Usually on Oshogatsu (Japanese new year day), I just follow my friends or family and go to a shrine for omairi (お参り / worship). I do not even do Osaisen (お賽銭 / throw money into an offertory box) and Omikuji (お神籤 / drawing a written fortune), however this year I try them and I drew Chu-kichi (中吉 / Second grade of good fortune).

In Japan, there is a superstition that you can live healthy and longer by eating soba at the end of year.

This has been believed since mid times of the Edo era (around the year 1700).
And it is called "Toshikoshi soba".
